Itinerary
After breakfasts at 8am, we depart to Semenggoh Orang Utan Rehabilitation center  to see the orang utans which are living freely in the center and you will be going back to the forest Care Center to watch the Orang utan being fed by the officials there.

After that , we will leave for Serian, where we will stop for coffee break at a local café there.  After a brief COFFEE BREAK, we will move on to Kampung Tebat, where there is a newly created project by the government to rear the very expensive empurau fishes ( also known as Wang Bu Liao – “Cannot Forget in Mandarin) along the river for the villagers of Kampung Terbat.

Empurau fishes are the top 5 most expensive fish in Malaysia. Per kg of the fish could fetch as much as RM1000.00. The fishes being reared here are not for sale however. You can also walk around the village here to see all the local fruits, cocoa and black pepper planted here and get to know the local plants here and if you come during the fruiting season, you can see them in full colour.

Then we drive on to Kampung Mongkos, which is another 1 hour drive. We will pass by several villages until we reach Kampung Mongkos. Here we will be welcomed with a warm hospitality.

Mongkos longhouse belongs to the Dayak tribe in Sarawak. The longhouse has 24-door which means there are 24 families staying there. The longhouse was built in the 1950s. Take a walk along the longhouse and se history etched on their wooden wall and doors, as during the “Confrontation”, between Malaysia and Indonesia, around 1962 to 1966, the Indonesian army tried to invade Sarawak, as Mongkos is only 2.5 km away from the Indonesian border and they attacked the longhouse. There were bullet holes on the wall during the fighting.

After the short walk on history, we will have our Bidayuh style lunch. After lunch, we will go visit the Legendary Batu Kapal and learn the story of how a mother and son were catching fishes at the Mongkos River, and her nipple was bitten by the crab. She laughed and the God got angry and turned her and her son into a stone, hence the name Batu Kapal.

We will then meet the friendly local villagers and we will learn about their way of life at their farmland nearby.  We will visit their paddy field, durian, bananas, mango, rambutan, rubber, oil palm and pepper planted around the village. After our insightful and interesting visit about the Bidayuh tribe and their way of life, we will then say Good Bye and leave the village at around 3pm, and return back to Kuching.
