Gunung Gading National Park Day Trip

Gunung Gading is home to the world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia.

Contact us to find out if any plants are about to bloom or already in bloom.

The rafflesia has no specific season but the rainy season provides better blooming frequencies. It takes nine months to mature and flowering lasts only 4 or 5 days before dying. Although flowers generally bloom throughout the year, November, December and January can be regarded as the peak flowering season as the frequency of blooms is high.

Gunung Gading also has some enjoyable walks and a challenging jungle trek. Visitors can trek along ‘The Waterfall’ trail, winding its way up through the forest past a series of waterfalls. It takes about one hour to reach the last one, Waterfall No. 7.

Itinerary

0830hrs – Pick up from city hotel in Kuching, then proceed to for Gunung Gading National Park. It will take about 2 hours to reach Gunung Gading. Upon arrival at the park, proceed for an hour of jungle trekking along the plank walk in search of a Rafflesia. See the host vines, the cabbage-like Rafflesia buds that litter the forest floor, and if you are lucky a Rafflesia in full bloom. Relax or swim at a picnic spot by a beautiful jungle stream. Return to Kuching late afternoon. (L)
